Michael VERMILLION
Brand PersonalCo-founder
Elevating your digital brand presence is our full time job. Our firm’s only product is your success.
We work best with clients who set big goals, have 10% in the bag and are determined to get to 10x. They have a vision as well as the foresight to partner with world-class talent to realize their potential.
Fueled by passion, we focus on projects that matter to us. Our clients value us for what we do best. We find partners and supporters along the way who understand us and who have mutual interests.
Our firm hires and partners with people like us and like you. Smart, driven professionals who take calculated risks and learn from failure. People who get things done, do what they say and encourage others to be the best at what they do. Life is too short to do it any other way.
From a personal perspective, I read everything that I can get my hands on. I learn from other people all the time. In the past 12 months I’ve participated in meetings where the presenter’s experience ranged from WPP’s Sir Martin Sorrell to a 22 year-old Facebook executive and walked away a little smarter from all of the sessions.
An innovator and experimenter, I try and do new things every day. I enjoy defining the path and helping others to discover it.
I’ve worked at the intersection of technology, brand and innovation for 25 years and created over $6 billion of market value along the way. Former employers and clients include mega companies like Procter & Gamble, Eli Lilly, Georgia Pacific, RR Donnelley, BellSouth, Dun & Bradstreet and EDS. Mid-sized, privately-owned firms and a venture-backed start-up are also part of my background.
I’ve enjoyed working with great people, stretching to achieve ambitious goals and experiencing the inevitable ups and downs inherit in business while keeping an eye out for the next, and hopefully, bigger challenge.
I look forward to working with you.

You are one of a kind. You are accomplished, precisely because of who you are – your unique values, skills, experiences, and ways of working. Our role is to help you discover, synthesize, articulate and express it – in ways that move you in the direction you want to go in. And in ways that connect with the people you want to connect with. Your Personal Brand.
A certified professional coach (Coaches Training Institute), with 20+ years of client and agency brand communications experience, I bring a unique perspective to creating authentic brands. My approach, Your Brand Coach (yourbrandcoach.ca), is a synergy of high-level brand communications with one:one personal leadership coaching.
My brand communications work ranges from local store marketing with McDonald’s restaurants to Roundup’s post-patent brand transformation in collaboration with Tattoo Brand Consulting (Martha Stewart, Gap), to OnGuard Safety’s rebrand that landed the Wal-Mart account. Since the early days of the internet, I’ve been creating digital brands (reduceyourtillage.com, farmcentral.com) and building on-line brand presence for corporations, small businesses and national organizations, including Women Entrepreneurs of Canada. Recently, I consulted on the first national study of small businesses and brand with HP Canada, Hill & Knowlton and Ipsos-Reid.
As Co-Owner of Stanton & Sylvester – a brand communications agency with a multi-year ranking in Profit W100 largest women-owned businesses in Canada – it was my love of the brands and the brand people that co-created business success.
Now as Co-Founder of Brand Personal, I bring my brand knowledge, people-sense and coaching skills to your personal brand and business success. Our work together will create the foundation of your personal brand. With your personal brand, you will play a bigger game in the digital world – and in your business world.
We invite you to join us in this process of discovery and expression – Your Personal Brand!
Kat GILLE
Brand PersonalContributing Editor
Everyone could use an editor now and again. You have such a unique, complex set of experiences, worldviews, biases, and understandings that you will undoubtedly sometimes miss the mark when trying to communicate who you are to others—particularly in written communication, which necessarily lacks the facial expressions, intonations, and gestures that could help assure it is received as it was intended.
What you need is a fresh pair of eyes, or rather, a fresh brain, to look at what you’ve written without the uniquely personal perspective you have unconsciously incorporated into it. You need the insight of an outsider–someone who is not inside your head. Yes, you need someone who knows the rules of punctuation and can spot a misspelling a mile away, but more importantly, you need someone who will help you make sure your words are effectively conveying your intended message. You need an editor.
And that’s where I come in.
I’ve been in love with the written word since even before I forged my way through Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick at the age of nine, and I’m one of those people lucky enough to have turned what I love into a career. In editing I am able to transform written communication from commendable attempts into highly effective writing through careful consideration of audience and purpose as well as the rules of grammar and punctuation.
I’m a freelance editor with experience in fiction and nonfiction, academic and business writing, print publishing and Web publishing. Basically I take any form of written communication and smooth the rough edges, polishing it so that its intended message shines through clearly to its audience. I look forward to doing this for you and your Personal Brand.
