Everyone could use an editor now and again. You have such a unique, complex set of experiences, worldviews, biases, and understandings that you will undoubtedly sometimes miss the mark when trying to communicate who you are to others—particularly in written communication, which necessarily lacks the facial expressions, intonations, and gestures that could help assure it is received as it was intended.
What you need is a fresh pair of eyes, or rather, a fresh brain, to look at what you’ve written without the uniquely personal perspective you have unconsciously incorporated into it. You need the insight of an outsider–someone who is not inside your head. Yes, you need someone who knows the rules of punctuation and can spot a misspelling a mile away, but more importantly, you need someone who will help you make sure your words are effectively conveying your intended message. You need an editor.
And that’s where I come in.
I’ve been in love with the written word since even before I forged my way through Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick at the age of nine, and I’m one of those people lucky enough to have turned what I love into a career. In editing I am able to transform written communication from commendable attempts into highly effective writing through careful consideration of audience and purpose as well as the rules of grammar and punctuation.
I’m a freelance editor with experience in fiction and nonfiction, academic and business writing, print publishing and Web publishing. Basically I take any form of written communication and smooth the rough edges, polishing it so that its intended message shines through clearly to its audience. I look forward to doing this for you and your Personal Brand.
